If you want to talk about the very relevant issues that you’re referring to, I would humbly submit that shouting about them from the center of an angry ill-informed mob isn’t the smartest way of going about it. Sure, there are legitimate points to be made, but when you’re standing shoulder to shoulder with the ignorant, the misguided and the deliberately deceptive, you’re going to be lumped in with them.
This tone argument bullshit.
“everyone is too upset to discuss this rationally so let’s just leave everything the way it is and maybe we can discuss it when you’ve all calmed down”
Jesus fucking christ we are your consumers, not your children.
We were upset, we tried to explain why and what we wanted to happen. Every single writer who has ever worked for Marvel (I know I’m exaggerating) came out of the wood work to tell us we were wrong and disrespectful in what was easily one of the worst handled situations I’ve ever seen first hand.
What the fuck else is expected of us? How “calm” do we have to be before someone at Marvel says “we hear what your saying”.
None of this is even touching on what a sexist tone this all has. You have creators (overwhelming male) telling fans (overwhelming female) they’re overreacting, being irrational to the way female characters are treated.
